Hiking Safety Tips and Types of equipment required

Hiking is a fabulous way to spend your time and have some beautiful memories as well. To hike in a safer way there are some basic rules you need to follow. Most people know that hiking comes with great physical demands like walking for hours with a heavy backpack. Hikers must prepare well by familiarizing themselves with most of the hazards and safety tips involved in it so that they can hike safely.

Knowing exactly where you are going is one of the most important points that need to be considered while planning for a hiking. Make sure you have a map and a compass. Unexpected weather, injuries, wild animals may all require an immediate change in route. Pay attention to the natural landmarks you make and watch the weather forecast a day before hiking.

Bring plenty of water along with you. If you are planning a longer hike that may last for more than a day then bringing a purification system would make more sense. Never drink untreated water. Try to take a first-aid kit along with you as you may require it on the way. Learn to treat basic injuries and how to prevent dehydration and heat strokes. Know how to start a fire. Keep matchsticks and lighter in a waterproof bag or box.

Focus on your clothing. See whether your clothes are compatible with your journey. Never wear sleeveless clothes as they may invite more mosquitoes and insects to attack you. Wear clothes which would allow both comfort and safety. Choose a perfect fit of shoes for you as picking up a wrong pair may result in painful blisters and foot-ache. Handy yourself with some use full tools and sharp knives and ropes. Don’t miss to keep torches and batteries.

Know where to get help. Most hiking trails have exit points that allow you to take a side path and reach the main road or a wilderness stop. Knowing where those side roads are will be found to be very much helpful in many situations.
